Пришло письмо от большого босса.
The security of any company's corporate network and systems, and their protection from external threats, of which typical examples include but are not restricted to virus attacks, malware, spyware, phishing software, email storms, spam mail and data theft is an ongoing battle in todays technology driven business world. As a company with enormous reliance on technology for all facets of our buisness, we have always tried to maintain the balance of high security merged with a corporate culture which requires a large degree of freedom of internet access, the ability to research technical R&D and view internet technology developments, and an openness of data sharing and data analysis required to move the business forward.
However as a result of some recent audits, we have been cautioned with regard to some of our current exposures. As a result, we are in the process of implementing a number of measures to improve our technology system's level of protection from external threat. One of these which has recently been implemented, is the removal of the ability for all employees to use USB storage devices to upload and download software and data from their corporate systems, including laptops. We realise this may cause some personal inconvenience, but are satisfied that it is a required security measure. If there is any reason that this will prevent you from carrying out any responsibility as an employee then please let me know directly and we will endevour to provide a workable solution.
долго думал, как это можно было ограничить на моем линуксе. и можно ли мне теперь слушать mp3 со своего внешнего usb-диска. на всякий случай спросил у начальника. начальник сказал, что он тоже не знает, как на линуксе можно удаленно ограничить возможность пользоваться usb-девайсами, а значит, меня это не касается. а если диск никто не будет видеть, то и проблемы никакой нет.
так и живем..
